SAJIDA’s Finance and Accounts Department performs a vital role within the organization in improving program efficiency, enhancing management decision-making capabilities, and promoting transparency and accountability. This department manages the collection and storage of financial data from all transactions under the relevant cost centers. Financial data is presented to management to enable effective and robust monitoring of different programs and dynamic management decision making.
SAJIDA has developed a detailed financial and procurement policy with comprehensively documented rules and regulations on account management. For each project at SAJIDA, a specific budget is maintained with full transparency. The Head Office compiles the various project budgets to develop the organization’s annual budget for each financial year.
SAJIDA’s Finance and Accounts Department has four specific functions, which are also often inter-related. These functions are
(1) Recording Financial Transactions: ensuring that the organization has an accurate record of its revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities and capital;
(2) Strategic Management Accounting: providing information to assist managers and other internal users in their decision-making, performance measurement, planning & control activities and pricing;
(3) Financial Reporting: providing information about the organization to external users that is useful to them in making economic decisions and for assessing stewardship of the organization’s management; and
(4) Treasury Management: managing the funds of the organization, namely cash and working capital items, plus short and long-term investments, short-term and long term debt and managing financial risk.
The Finance and Accounts Department prepares SAJIDA's financial statements in accordance with international reporting and accounting standards. SAJIDA strives for excellence and transparency in financial reporting. SAJIDA has received numerous national and international awards in recognition for its accomplishments for the preparation, disclosure and maintenance of a commendable financial reporting platform.
In 2006, SAJIDA was awarded 2nd Prize for Best Published Accounts and Reports by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and received a Merit Certificate from the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA). In 2008, SAJIDA received 3rd Prize under the NGO/NPO Sector for Best Published Accounts and Reports by ICAB and was also presented Joint 1st Runners up for the Presented Accounts award under the NGO sector by SAFA. In 2009, SAJIDA received 2nd Prize under the NGO/NPO sector for Best Published Accounts and Reports by ICAB and was also presented a Merit Certificate by SAFA. In 2010, SAJIDA received 1st Prize under the NGO/NPO sector for Best Published Accounts and Reports by ICAB. In the same year SAJIDA was also presented1st Runners up by SAFA. In 2011, SAJIDA received 1st Prize under the NGO/NPO sector for Best Published Accounts and Reports by ICAB.
