SAJIDA Holds Phase Out Meeting for the “Improving Access to WASH for RMG Workers in Bangladesh” Program

On 6th March 2019, SAJIDA Foundation organized a phase out meeting for the “Improving access to WASH for RMG workers in Bangladesh” project. The chief guest of the event was Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman, MP, Honorable State Minister, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief. The special guest was Dr. Md. Khairul Islam, Country Directory, WaterAid Bangladesh (WAB). The chair of the session was Pranab Kumar Ghosh, Assistant Commissioner (Land), Savar. Other participants included government officials, factory representatives and members of the community.

The meeting included a presentation from Md. Fazlul Haque, Senior Director, SAJIDA Foundation. This was followed by lively speeches by the guests and a discussion session with the participants. This meeting was an opportunity for SAJIDA Foundation to disseminate the stakeholders about the interventions of the project that was carried out, the experiences, learning and the outcomes of the project, while getting their valuable input about the project.

The “Improving access to WASH for RMG workers in Bangladesh” project was conducted in collaboration with WaterAid and funded by Levi Strauss & Co. The project duration was from June 2016 till March 2019 and the project objective was to allow access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene for RMG workers, while integrating them with the health, education and microfinance sector as well as to influence the local authority to ensure WASH compliance.
