We are a progressive, positive, pro-poor, eco-friendly non-profit organization dedicated to our raison d’etre of bringing health, happiness and dignity in the lives of the less fortunate. Our efforts to bring about meaningful and sustainable change are defined by our values of family first, innovation and quality, dignity, equality, inclusiveness, empowerment of women, transparency and accountability.
Since our humble beginnings in 1987 as a small garage school for disadvantaged children, we have grown from strength to strength, learning with each step. Today, we offer a diverse portfolio of microcredit products alongside quality healthcare services and various social development programs for six million patrons, working in 3,553 villages and cities across 20 districts, with a dedicated team of 2,283 caring changemakers.

We carry forward our Founder Syed Humayun Kabir’s legacy of reaching out to those in need, not as an act of charity, but as part of our responsibility.

A Unique Example of Social Enterprise

With 51% shareholding of Renata Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Formerly Pfizer Bangladesh), SAJIDA emerged as an extraordinary gesture of corporate philanthropy and stands today as a unique example of social enterprise and corporate social responsibility.

Pfizer Inc.- New York started its operations in Bangladesh in 1972. When the organization transferred its ownership in 1993 to local shareholders, the company, renamed Renata Limited, initially sold and subsequently donated 51% shares to SAJIDA Foundation.

Renata and SAJIDA – Paying it Forward

Renata Limited (formerly Pfizer Limited), is among the country’s leading pharmaceutical and animal health product companies. One of the fourth largest pharmaceutical companies and market leader in animal health products, Renata is listed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange with market capitalization of approximately Taka 50 billion. The company has eight manufacturing facilities spread over three manufacturing sites and also exports its products to Afghanistan, Belize, Cambodia, Ethiopa, Guyana, Honduras, Hong Kong, Kenya, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, United Kingdom and Vietnam.

SAJIDA has grown into a self-sustaining organization with a majority of its programs financed by dividend earnings from Renata Limited, service charges from microfinance operations, and fees from its health and insurance ventures.
