International Women’s Day celebrated

This year on International Women’s Day 2018, SAJIDA awarded 10 exceptional women entrepreneurs who have shown exemplary courage and resilience in improving the quality of their lives with SAJIDA’s assistance. The ten awardees were nominated on the basis of their success in overcoming adverse circumstances and ensuring a better future for their families through income generating activities. The awardees included Ms. Rashida, Ms. Fulmoti, Ms. Mosammat Parvin, Ms. Shahina Akhter, Ms. Momtaz, Ms. Razia Begum and Ms. Sahar Banu from the Microfinance Program and Ms. Salma Begum, Ms. Zarina Begum and Ms. Sajida Begum from the Amrao Manush Program. At a formal ceremony held at the SAJIDA Head Office, the women entrepreneurs received a special gift – a Smartphone – to ensure their progress through technology. They also received flowers, letters of recognition and a session with SAJIDA’s higher management.

Also, on International Women’s Day, SAJIDA’s program offices across the country recognized its female staff and members with flowers, chocolates and special handmade cards. Branch offices also recognized and honored inspirational women members and staff. SAJIDA Hospital provided 15% discount on its services to women and children from March 8, 2018 to March 22, 2018.

This year’s UN theme for International Women’s Day was: “Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives” and International Women’s Day (IWD) theme was: Press for Progress, SAJIDA strives for inclusive development, substantive equality and financial and digital inclusion.
