BHW HOLDS WEBINAR ON COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT OF DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATIONS AMID THE PANDEMIC

Bangladesh Health Watch (BHW), a multi-stakeholder civil society advocacy and monitoring network, organised a webinar on Monday to share experiences on the community engagement of development organisations amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The experiences were presented by Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, country director of The Hunger Project, Bangladesh, Dr Morseda Chowdhury, associate director of BRAC and Md Fazlul Haque, senior director of SAJIDA Foundation, according to a press release. Dr Mushtaque Chowdhury, convener of Bangladesh Health Watch moderated the webinar. Speakers at the webinar called on the government, public representatives and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to work together to prevent the pandemic. Emphasising the importance of public awareness in dealing with the pandemic, speakers of the webinar also asked the government to take an effective role and provide necessary financial assistance to the appropriate NGOs in this regard. Speakers further urged NGOs to take more effective initiatives to promote the basic health rules of Covid-19 and media personnel to highlight the importance of public participation in novel coronavirus prevention, the press release said. The speakers hoped that the various donor agencies would also provide quick and necessary financial assistance to community engagement projects. Government officials, development agency leaders, public health experts, members of the Corona Advisory Committee, academics, journalists, representatives of development partners, and members of BHW Working Group attended the webinar.
