Sajida Humayun Kabir
PATRON, SAJIDA FOUNDATION
Sajida Humayun Kabir, patron of SAJIDA Foundation, has vast experience in philanthropic work. When her late husband, our founder, Syed Humayun Kabir, founded SAJIDA Foundation as a gift to his wife on the occasion of their 25th anniversary, the founding symbolized both a personal thought and a unique model of NGO financing. Funded by a majority shareholding of Renata, what was so remarkable about the founding of SAJIDA Foundation in 1993 was the explicit joining of a private enterprise (Renata) to a public purpose.
Sajida Humayun Kabir’s professional and philanthropic endeavors cover a vast array of subject areas. After achieving an Honours degree in Psychology and Philosophy and her Masters degree in Psychology, she worked as a psychologist and social worker at Nari Punarbason Kendro. Working with the renowned psychologist, Prof. Nazimuddin, provided her valuable experience as a psychologist in the mental ward in PG Hospital. She also worked as Research Assistant at the National Institute of Public Administration and a Lecturer in the Department of Architecture University of Engineering and Technology. In the later phase of her career, she served as a Director of Renata Limited and the Chairperson of SAJIDA Foundation. She was also a former board member of BRAC.
Sajida Humayun Kabir also has a wealth of experience in community work. She served as Vice President and Secretary General of the Society for Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled. She is a former member of Zonta International Club and a former member of Trust for the Intellectually Disabled. She is also a “life member” of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh and a member National Association of Sports for Persons with Intellectual Disability.
