The 'Small & Marginal Sized Farmers Agricultural Productivity Improvement & Diversification Financing Project' supported by Bangladesh Bank, aims to enhance the agricultural productivity and diversification of 6,848 small and marginal farmers. The project also aims to improve cultivation productivity by providing Technical Support Services (TSS) training on livelihood.

Recent Highlights

Technical Support

SAJIDA has provided tailored, case-specific technical support on agricultural activities including fishery and livestock management to over 13,000 farmers through phone calls, with nearly 7,000 farmers having availed of these services on their land.

High-Yielding Rice Varieties

Farmers use modern technology and machinery to harvest high-yielding rice varieties. Farmers were guided on how to gain the highest market prices for their crop. This included parching, light traps, logo methods, line sowing, and Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD). As a result, yield increased on average by 200kg/Bigha (33 decimals) and reduced production costs by BDT 2000 per Bigha (33 decimals).

Vaccination Services

In partnership with union and district-level livestock offices, SAJIDA completed vaccinations for 40,000 livestock (cattle, goats) and poultry cases from 2021- 2022. This helped keep livestock healthy and supported rearing and fattening activities. Vaccines were purchased from, or donated on good will from, district and union livestock authorities. This initiative is highly appreciated by local government authorities.

SAROTHI - A Sustainable Agriculture Initiative of SAJIDA

SAJIDA’s sustainable agriculture initiative SAROTHI, has trained and enabled farmers to reap greater harvest. While creating forward market linkages, the program is empowering farmers towards a sustainable future.

Better Harvest for a Brighter Future

After applying for a loan, a branch manager from SAJIDA’s local office visited his farm. After inspection, Rafique Miah was granted a Small and Marginal Sized Farmers Agricultural Productivity Improvement and Diversification Financing Project (SMAP) loan of BDT 50,000.
